What is the difference between Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science?
A Bachelor of Arts degree offers students a broader education.
Students are required to take a variety of liberal art subjects such as
humanities, literature, history, social sciences, communications, foreign
language and so on. Students can select from a diverse list of courses. Here
these allows students to actively mold their education to their interests. A BA
degree provides a more diverse education. Therefore, a BA degree generally
requires less credits than a BS degree. For example, the University of
Washington (UW) offers a BA and BS in Psychology which is one of the top one.
A BA in Psychology from UW requires less mathematics and
statistics courses than a BS in Psychology and A Bachelor of Science degree offers students a more specialized education in their major.
BS degree requires more credits than a
BA degree. A BS degree is more focused in the specific major. Then the students
are required to focus on studying their major at a more in-depth level and they
have fewer chances to take classes outside of their major. A BS degree is
generally offered in technical and scientific topics like engineering,
technology, mathematics, computer science, nursing, and biochemistry etc. A BS
degree is generally offered in scientific degrees, many schools offer BS
degrees in specialized fields, for example, North eastern University offers a
BS degree in Music with a concentration in Music Industry.
A Bachelor of the Arts degree program provides students with
more expansive education, requiring fewer credits that are directly linked to a
particular major and then the students are expected to earn credits in a
variety of liberal arts subjects. Courses in the humanities, English, the
social sciences, and a foreign language are typically part of the degree
program. Students can pick and choose from a broad array of courses to fulfill
these requirements, allowing them greater flexibility to customize their
education to match their individual goals and interests in the Bachelor of Arts.
Bachelor of Arts degrees are commonly offered in fields like English, art,
music, modern languages and communication and so on.
Programs resulting in a Bachelor of Science degree are
generally more strictly focused on their subject matter. Here requiring more
credits that are directly linked to the major and the students are expected to
concentrate their academic energies on mastering the technical and practical
facets of their field. They include many more opportunities to explore topics
outside of the subject of their major whereas Bachelor of Science degrees are
usually offered in technical and scientific areas like computer science,
nursing, mathematics, biochemistry, and physics. For more
